Bay Area Children’s Theatre’s award-winning musical theatre studio offers performance and workshop classes for children ages 4 to 18. Each of our classes is ignites the joy of performance in children while exploring creativity and storytelling.

Our classes focus on ensemble, team-work and boosting self-confidence through hard work and hard play! We design our curriculum to challenge and excite children at all levels-- from the preschooler who wants to learn how to act out her favorite story to to the high schooler who is looking to study theatre in college.

Performance-Based Classes

Little Performers (Grades K - 1)
Little Performers will rehearse and perform a fun and silly play based our favorite stories! Your little one will sing, dance, and develop a character in a script that is perfectly designed for their age range. This program is designed to introduce young students to theatre in a fun, supportive, and exciting way-no pressure and stress, everyone plays and everyone participates. Your young actor will learn how to use their voice to tell a story, create characters with their bodies, ignite their imaginations and work together as a team to put on a show!

Young Performers (Grades 2 - 5)

Step on the stage!

Young Performers will bring to life a full musical...starting with a fun and easy audition process, into rehearsal and then on to show day! The young performers will experience the joy and magic of working together as a team in costume to sing and dance their way through a great story. Our young actors will learn the importance of ensemble, beginning acting, singing and dance technique and play theatre games which ignite creativity and imagination while teaching the focus required to put on a musical.

Next Stage Performers (Grades 5 - 8)

Are you ready to take it to the Next Step?

In Next Stage Performers our older students will hone their craft by learning more advanced acting, singing, and dancing technique while rehearsing a terrific musical! Ensemble and team work will be the focus as our Next Stage Performers learn more complex production numbers. If your student is new to theatre, our skilled Teaching Artists will work to make sure that every child feels welcome and learns the skills to put on a show. Being a part of a production will help children build self-confidence, creativity, and personal responsibility.

Pilot Program (Grades 5 - 12)

Join us on stage in the WORLD PREMIERE of the JUNIOR version of Drowsy Chaperone!

Step on the stage! Take the next step as an actor and be the first to perform iTheatric's new Drowsy Chaperone Jr. This unique opportunity will give your young actor access to brand new material and challenge them as they work with high level Teaching Artists and the chance for national exposure.

Performance Technique Classes


Vocal Velocity

Do you love to sing? Do you want to improve your singing voice? Gain confidence? Hear your voice loud and proud with other kids who love to sing? This class is for you! All levels welcome.

Improv Explosion

Create stories, make up characters, play games, laugh A LOT...these are the tools of improvisation. Join our Improv Explosion class if you want to have a blast while learning the building blocks of theatre. Through games and activities, students will learn about making theatre with no script! It’s all about your imagination and team work!

Locations: Berkeley, Oakland

Broadway Dance

Dance into the spotlight in our brand new Broadway Dance Class! Your student will be introduced to the fundamentals of jazz technique and explore storytelling in the classic Broadway style. There will be a presentation of the dances learned on the last day of class. This class is open to students in grades 3-8. All skill levels welcome!

Pre-K Classes

Preschool Performers

Join our imaginative theatre class for the very young, and your preschooler will sing and dance, explore stories and story telling while acting them out with a professional actor and teacher, create themed artwork and costumes through craft projects, and celebrate their own story adventure on the final day of class.
